I love rosellas. Such gentle birds. Unlike lorikeets, they are patient and polite, and unlike many other Australian parrots, their voices are soft and understated. There’s a calm presence about them that makes their flashes of red and blue all the more striking. Often, when photographing nervous birds, I have to be alert and on edge. But not with rosellas. Photographing them allows me to slow down, letting the moments dissolve out of existence. Fine art photo captured in the Blue Mountains, NSW, Australia.
